The last two weeks have been focused on our property, getting it ready to rent. This means emptying our dome and doing upgrades. Also, we have posted the dome on many online venues to help us find a good renter. So, many friends have helped. Here's a partial list of the help we have been given:
weeding next to the house
the use of cars since both of ours ended up malfunctioning at the same time
washing windows, cleaning the kitchen, lots of cleaning!
helping me sort and purge books (my weak spot)
taking things away to donate
installing door handles and locks
assembling things
helping Eila sort and box up her bedroom items
moving heavy things into storage
bringing food for us so we didn't have to cook
moving firewood
and so much more!
On top of all of this, has been a layer of sadness. We have lived here 13 years! It's the only home our girls know. While there are things I'm looking forward to on our venture, right now, It's easier to see the things we are leaving behind. I'm so thankful that we will be able to stay in Santa Cruz for a few months after transitioning to Skagua. It will help the adjustment.
The current plan is to move onto the boat in early April, stay at anchor next to Santa Cruz, and then depart in October for Baja California. Then, after this Baja Boot camp (the girls and us need to practice being a sailing team), cross over to the Pacific Islands in March of 2025 to join up with whatever projects have emerged by that time. We are still in talks with the Foursquare Church leadership to see what projects could be a good match.
