Slow and Steady

This weekend Eila, Brian and I worked aboard Skagua.  We brought 4 boxes of dishes, non-perishable foods, and miscellaneous items to move aboard.  While I cut and placed non-skid shelf liners and determined where to place supplies, Brian worked in the engine room on to raise the level of the exhaust exit, as well as preparing for a massive electrical project.  He has to install those batteries, run connections to the alternator, and the other parts of the boat.

What did Eila do to help?  She sanded a caprail that is next to the cockpit.  When that was finished she kept an eye on the sea lions and regularly scared them off using a thin rope which she snapped in their direction (while staying safely on the boat). Also, she and Brian used the water hose to spray them away a couple of times.  If there is an animal in her vicinity or her care, Eila comes alive with confidence, and energy.  Be it a sea lion, a chicken, a horse, a crab...no difference.  It is always a joy to see her transformed like this.  And we are already wondering if we could have a SMALL pet aboard.  There is some talk about a gecko; we had wild ones aboard a couple times and their morning chirps were very cheerful, as was the welcome service they provided of eating insects.  If anyone has suggestions about geckos, or other boat pets, please post in the comments!
