Preparations continue

Well folks, it's been a fast two weeks. It's been hard. We've continued to pack up the dome and did a great big push this weekend.  It is so clean and new looking.  Makes us wonder why we have all that stuff we are able to live without.  We have no renters secured yet, but have some good leads.

Today, I was able to work on weeding the garden to get ready to plant a few seeds.  It was a relief to do something I enjoy and be outside instead of packing and sorting and cleaning.  It's one normal thing I don't have to give up quite yet.  We will be leaving the house next week to start moving onto Skagua.  So this week feels bittersweet, lots of last things for the foreseeable future.  The last fire in the fireplace; the last time listening to rain on our roof; the last times having Otto peek in our front window; the last time using our convenient laundry machines (instead of lugging it to shore), etc.  But, since we will be living aboard and anchored off of the Santa Cruz wharf, we will still get to come hang out at our property even though our home will be rented.

Another thing we did today was meet with a representative from Foursquare Missions International who gave us an overview of the process of partnering with them to do missions work in the Pacific Ocean.  While we don't have a specific project yet, this is the beginning to getting connected and discovering what types of needs there are that we can help with.  I'm excited to hear that we will have lots of training around sensitivity to different cultures, and mental health issues of adjusting to different ways of life.

Brian continues to head to the boat almost every day to make progress on many different systems.

And last week, the girls and I got to spend some hours at my friend's house starting a sewing project for the girls' berths.  The existing cushions are mere slabs of 3 inch foam.  So I have yards and yards of fabric to make nice covers for these, in order to make their beds more inviting.  Kyleen has much greater skills than I, and signed herself up to help me make this happen.   I'm including a picture of the pattern she made for one of the 4 differently shaped foam pieces.
